First Friday Artwalk - On the first Friday of each
month Downtown Springfield stays open late! Galleries host special
showings, stores put on extra hospitality, and bars, coffee houses
and restaurants become vibrant meeting places. It all starts
happening about 6pm and goes until late. If you've never been to a
Friday Artwalk, make yourself a promise to visit the next
one.
Downtown Map & Parking - Downtown is accessible,
with 6000 parking places and everything within easy walking
distance. College Station Parking is right across the street from
us and is always free! Here are two handy maps you can print out
and bring along.
Springfield Hot Glass Studio - Terry always has
something interesting happening, and his glass arts make truely
unique hand-made gifts, no matter what your budget. Stop by and say
hello, they're right next door to Ampersand.
Global Fayre - Cherie and David carry a great range
of products from all over the world, all sourced from Fair Trade
suppliers. They're a few doors up the street near Walnut.
Springfield Pottery - A thriving community clay
center and gallery, featuring the work of over 45 local, regional
and national artists in clay and other media. They're on Campbell
Avenue just south of Walnut Street.
Kai -
Asian fusion cuisine (deep fried sushi anyone?). It's right next
door, so if you're early for your dinner reservation, call in on us
first and browse a while.
Patton
Alley Pub - Excellent beer selection and a nice 'real-pub'
atmosphere make this our favorite after-work hang out. There's
often a band playing too. One street East from Ampersand.
Springfield Brewing Company - The 'brewco' is a true
micro-brewery set up in a great old building with state-of-the-art
facilities courtesy of Mueller's stainless steel fabrications (also
in Springfield). One block directly West of us.
Hollywood
Theater - A multi-screen movie theater with all the latest
projection equipment, at the corner of Campbell and Park Central
West.
